Young’s Bus Service has been providing transport services to parts of the Central Queensland area for over 65 years. Operations Manager Phil Young said “One of the reasons for our success has been because of the work we do every day to maintain the transportation needs of our customers with the highest levels of service and safety. We’re always transforming our business, looking for different ways we do succeed.”
Young’s Bus Service loves to give back to the community. In February this year, Young’s put a call out to the community wanting suggestions to name their entire bus fleet. The response was overwhelming with over 100 submissions. The first of their fleet was named after the Queensland Police Service program “Project Booyah”.
On Sunday 15 May, the ribbon will be cut for the next bus, “Jason Rich”.
Jason Rich tragically passed away in a car accident on the 30th of December 2009, not long after his 21st birthday. Shortly after his passing, Jason’s best mate Jacob Mcluskie established the Jason Rich Foundation, a defensive driving and education program designed to save teenagers lives. The impact that losing a young life has on the people left behind is devastating. Jason’s legacy lives on through his foundation. The story of Jason Rich is an opportunity to educate our young drivers and change the way our young people view driving but more importantly how they act behind the wheel. So far the Jason Rich Foundation has put over 1,000 kids through Safe Driver Training at no cost them. With the generous support of local organisations such as Diplock’s and Young’s Bus Service, the foundation will continue delivering its free defensive driving program to Year 12’s across the State.
Mr Young believes “The naming of the bus ‘Jason Rich’ is to serve a reminder to the community that Jason will never be forgotten and the loss of his life will save many more.”
