Young’s Bus Service has been providing transport services to parts of the Central Queensland area for over 65 years. In 2014, Young’s Bus Service hit its 65 year milestone. For our birthday, the Queensland Bus Industry Council (QBIC) awarded us the Long service award and the Outstanding Contribution Award.
Young’s Bus Service was first established in 1949 with just one bus. Its first service was in Keppel Sands then shortly after Gracemere. Around this time during the war years, the opportunity then arose to carry army personnel from Rockhampton to Yeppoon. After 7 years of waiting for a license, Young’s then extended its services to Mount Morgan. The history of the business is all in its name. Brothers and sisters David, Phil and Margaret now run the business. Previously to this, the business was run by mum and dad team Joan and Stan Young.
K5 International purchased in the early 1950’s
65 years on and Young’s Bus Service has 35 vehicles that carry on average 3,000 passengers per day. With offices and depots in Rockhampton and Yeppoon, the business is a big part of the local community.
