Fare information

How do I pay my fare?

Our bus drivers do not accept credit or debit cards . We accept cash but please ensure you have correct change available. For regular passengers, you can save up to 20% by purchasing an easy-travel fare card.

Can I buy tickets online?

No, however we are always looking at ways to improve our business and this is something we hope to release in the near future.

What is the best value ticket for me?

Purchasing our easy travel card is the most economical way to travel with us. The easy-travel Fare Card is a plastic card that incorporates smart card technology allowing credit to be stored on the card for the purchase of bus fare. The easy-travel Fare Card offers a 20% discount on every one way (single) ticket purchase. For more information about our easy-travel fare card click here.

What should I do if I have lost my easy travel card?

Please contact us and we will disable your card and transfer your balance to a new card. If you suspect your card has been stolen, contact the Queensland Police Service via PoliceLink

Travelling on a bus

Can I take my bicycle on-board?

Bicycles are NOT permitted on-board however we sometimes do make exceptions. For example, if you have traveled to the region for a competition such as a triathlon and your bicycle is part of your luggage.

Can I eat, drink or smoke on the bus?

No. Eating, drinking or smoking on a bus could see you fined for committing a public transport offence. (Subject to medical conditions excl smoking)

Can I take my dog on-board?

No, UNLESS you rely on a guide, hearing or assistance dog, you can organise certification and a handler card so the dog can travel with you: • on all public transport in Queensland • in most public places in Australia • on domestic flights • overseas to Australian Quarantine and Inspection Services (AQIS)-approved countries. What are some of the rules I need to know when travelling on a bus?

Any passenger that utilises our services must comply in accordance to guidelines, policies and legislation governed by the Department. Similarly we do also as a registered bus operator. • All passengers must have a valid SIT card, Easy Travel Card or fare ticket. • Customers travelling on a concession fare must carry their valid concession entitlement card. • No smoking in a public passenger vehicle or on public transport infrastructure. • No food or drink in a public passenger vehicle. What is the youngest age someone can travel on a bus?

Children under 4 travel free and can travel with us as long as they are accompanied with an adult. We also provide school bus services for school children from Prep to Primary and Secondary. We recommend you read our safety tips for students and children.

I’m a university student. Can I apply for concession fares?

YES! If you are a full-time CQ University student or TAFE student, you may be eligible for concession fares on Young’s Bus Service. Easy Travel Cards are the best way to buy a fare with Young’s Bus Service. It offers a 20% discount on every one-way (single) ticket purchase. Everyone is eligible for this discount whether you’re an adult, student, pensioner or a concession card holder. On most fares, it gives students up to 70% off. To be eligible you must be; • enrolled in an approved course as a full-time student studying internally • have a current Student ID card issued by CQ University • live in Queensland.
