easy-travel SIT Card

The SIT Card is issued to all students who are approved by Department of Transport & Main Roads for bus travel assistance to primary school and secondary school. This card is programmed with the student’s travel entitlements as marked on the bus travel assistance application. Parents/ Guardians who choose to send their child to a school other than the closest will be required to pay fare from nearest state school to the school attended.

Using your SIT Card …..

To Use

  • Simply ‘scan on’ when boarding the bus – ‘Scan on’ involves holding the card within 5 cm of a card reader ‘hold card over centre to scan’. Reader will scan card and deduct appropriate fare if necessary. Green light signals successful transaction
  • The SIT Card is encoded with the valid travel days (am or pm or both) as nominated on the bus travel assistance application form. School travel on a day not nominated will require payment of the appropriate fare.
  • Recharge card by adding money in amounts of $5.00, $10.00, $20.00 or $50.00 for payment of any fare portions.

Benefits

  • Registered lost or stolen cards can be ‘black-listed’ allowing value left to be transferred to a replacement card.
  • Peace of mind knowing children are not taking cash to school for bus fares.
  • Means quicker boarding, transaction only take fractions of a second.
  • Students can use the credit portion of the card for bus travel on Saturdays, Sundays, Public Holidays and school vacation by simply adding credit to the card.

Students must scan their easy-travel SIT Card every time when boarding the bus to and from school or pay the fare.

Those students who are not eligible for travel assistance are encouraged to purchase the easy-travel Fare Card. These students will benefit from the convenience of not carrying cash to school along with the discounted fare that the card provides.
