“It’s been a very busy fortnight for us at Young’s Bus Service. One minute we’re evacuating residents from Gracemere because of bush fires, the next we’re dealing with flash flooding, hail and strong winds.” Those are the words of our Operations Manager Phil Young today after having to deal with yesterdays bus accident along Yeppoon Rd. One source has indicated there were three cars at the time of the incident. The car at the front was weaving all over the road and occasionally putting their brakes on. Motorists were obviously confused by this drivers behavior, which resulted in one of the motorists slamming their brakes on.
Mr Young also said “This was a low speed accident. It could have been much worse as the stretch of road the accident occurred is a 100km an hour zone. I congratulate the actions of our driver. There were no injuries and the damage to the bus was minor.”
Young’s Bus Service has a track record of ensuring the safety of the community is always paramount. In February 2015, prior to the impact of Cyclone Marcia, Mr Young made the decision to halt all bus services. This decision then forced all the schools to close.
The Young’s Bus Service fleet of buses has the latest in safety and technology. All buses are tracked in real time and capture a significant amount of data. They’re also one of the safest places to be in a natural disaster because the buses are fitted with full roll over protection.
