Queensland Government Introduces 50 Cent Fare Initiative for Public Transport
The 50 cent fare applies to select Translink bus routes in:
- Rockhampton and Yeppoon urban routes / numbers 440, 441, 442, 444, 445, 446, 447, 448, 450 and 451
- Gladstone urban routes / numbers 500, 501, 502, 503, 504, 505, 506, 510.
The initiative applies to contracted operators on Translink public timetable services. CDC’s Sunshine Coast services currently include school bus and charter operations only.
Yes. You can continue to pay onboard buses with cash.
No further discounts apply during this period.
No. During this trial, you will not need to show proof of concession as all fares will be a flat 50 cents.
Customers can stay updated about services and any changes during the trial by downloading the Translink App, visiting the Translink website, or calling their customer service line at 13 12 30.
Conditions Apply. Some public transport routes are not included in the 50 cent fare initiative. Refer to the Translink website for these details.

Our bus drivers do not accept credit or debit cards . We accept cash but please ensure you have correct change available.
For regular passengers, you can save up to 20% by purchasing an easy-travel fare card.
No, however we are always looking at ways to improve our business and this is something we hope to release in the near future.
Purchasing our easy travel card is the most economical way to travel with us.
The easy-travel Fare Card is a plastic card that incorporates smart card technology allowing credit to be stored on the card for the purchase of bus fare.
The easy-travel Fare Card offers a 20% discount on every one way (single) ticket purchase.

Travelling on a bus
Bicycles are NOT permitted on-board however we sometimes do make exceptions. For example, if you have traveled to the region for a competition such as a triathlon and your bicycle is part of your luggage.
No. Eating, drinking or smoking on a bus could see you fined for committing a public transport offence. (Subject to medical conditions excl smoking)
No, UNLESS you rely on a guide, hearing or assistance dog, you can organise certification and a handler card so the dog can travel with you:
• on all public transport in Queensland
• in most public places in Australia
• on domestic flights
• overseas to Australian Quarantine and Inspection Services (AQIS)-approved countries.

Any passenger that utilises our services must comply in accordance to guidelines, policies and legislation governed by the Department. Similarly we do also as a registered bus operator.
• All passengers must have a valid SIT card, Easy Travel Card or fare ticket.
• Customers travelling on a concession fare must carry their valid concession entitlement card.
• No smoking in a public passenger vehicle or on public transport infrastructure.
• No food or drink in a public passenger vehicle.

Children under 4 travel free and can travel with us as long as they are accompanied with an adult. We also provide school bus services for school children from Prep to Primary and Secondary.

YES! If you are a full-time CQ University student or TAFE student, you may be eligible for concession fares on Young’s Bus Service.
Easy Travel Cards are the best way to buy a fare with Young’s Bus Service. It offers a 20% discount on every one-way (single) ticket purchase. Everyone is eligible for this discount whether you’re an adult, student, pensioner or a concession card holder.
