Rothery’s Coaches and Young’s Bus Service provided a “beefed up” transportation service this week, helping visitors from around the country to celebrate Rockhampton’s rich agricultural heritage at Beef2024.
The local CDC Queensland-owned companies supported the southern hemisphere’s largest beef event, held from May 5 to 11, with shuttles taking attendees to and from key venues and activities.
Organisers estimated the gates would be passed through more than 115,000 times during the week, with producers, exhibitors, chefs, innovators, students and visitors from home and abroad coming together to celebrate all the Australian beef industry had to offer.
Cattle events throughout the week highlighted the dedication, hard work and ingenuity of Australian beef producers and the Beef2024 Seminar Program featured 35 seminars and more than 125 speakers delivered by 18 industry partners across five days.
Beef Australia Chief Executive Officer Simon Irwin said Beef2021 had generated $94 million for the Rockhampton region and injected another $55.5 million into the Queensland economy, even in the face of the Covid19 pandemic.
He said Beef2024 had “more beef, more tech, more trade, more education, more entertainment” and shaped up to be “better than ever”.
Rothery’s Coaches was also involved in transporting those who signed up for the Westpac Property Tour Program, in which visitors saw a fascinating array of working cattle properties, industry leading research facilities and innovating businesses, all within a few hours’ radius of Rockhampton.
The tour also visited the site of Mort & Co’s new feedlot at Gogango, 70 kilometres west of Rockhampton, where construction of Queensland’s largest feedlot is due to start at the end of 2024.
Young’s Bus Service also provided shuttles from the Stockland Shopping Centre to the Beef2024 event at the Rockhampton Showgrounds.
CDC Queensland General Manager Anna Tyben said Rothery’s Coaches and Young’s Bus Service were thrilled to be involved in Beef2024, ensuring visitors could seamlessly celebrate Rockhampton’s rich agricultural heritage.
“Our commitment to providing reliable transportation ensured attendees could focus on enjoying all the festivities and events without worrying about logistics. We’re honoured to be a part of this iconic celebration.”
